Grey day

All my plans have gone awry this week. The only outing I got was a one-hour walk down at Tigum Lagoon. This was not a particularly nice place; surrounded by houses and industry, with very little variety in the wildlife and a lot of weeds.
I took quite a few shots of the more common water birds, and then had to do a lot of creative cropping! The light was also apalling; very overcast and so diffuse light and no highlights. I will have to try colouring this shot, to see what I can get. |

I love these guys. I love their tentative walk. I love their big feet. How do they walk and not step on their toes?

We love our camera. Fionn was very proud of this shot, as he should be. All I contributed was the crop.
This is a male wood duck, by the way. |

Early morning walk

This morning we went for a wander through Springwood Conservation Park. It was lovely, though freezing. This bit of bushland is in the middle of suburbia and I was surprised at the amount of wildlife we saw - including a koala! We saw some pretty-face wallabies, but they were too fast for me to catch on film.
In the middle of winter all the banksias are in flower, and they simply glowed in the sun. About halfway around the sun broke across the ridge and the birds went crazy! We didn't know where to look, there were so many. Again, I didn't manage to catch many on film as they were too fast for me - they seem to have a sixth sense of when I am pointing the camera at them. There are more pictures from our walk in my "green" gallery, including the banksias, a couple of birds and the |
